Seeds of Light: Honoring the Darkness, Nurturing New Beginnings
Happy Samhain, Halloween, Diwali, and the soon-to-come Dia de los Muertos! There’s so much power in collective celebration. These traditions mark this time as sacred, a period for honoring what came before us and embracing reflection and the triumph of light over darkness. Tonight, aligned with the new moon in Scorpio, we’re invited to journey inward—a perfect chance to explore hidden wisdom, tune into the cycles of life, and welcome the new.
Here we are, at the start of a three-day new moon phase, and somehow, this timing aligned for Firebird Rose’s first post. This new moon energy is all about beginnings, and it doesn’t matter whether what we plant is big or small. What counts is the intention behind it. I couldn’t resist seeding something here with you tonight. If you’ve joined me in a moon ceremony before, you know I’m big on checking in with our celestial guides each new and full moon. Here’s a look at what’s happening now:
- The Call to Depth and Transformation With the Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Scorpio, we’re drawn deep within ourselves. Scorpio energy doesn’t do “surface”; it’s here for intensity, for shadow work, for letting go of outdated beliefs. Our connections feel heightened, with raw, unfiltered emotions surfacing. This energy invites us to release the old and make room for something new and transformative.
- A Moment for Reflection and Renewal There’s also a cosmic nudge to pause. Saturn’s retrograde in Pisces is like an invitation to solitude and reflection. Just yesterday, a close friend asked me what I needed, and my honest answer surprised me: “Solitude.” As a mom and a healer, my needs often come last, but it’s clear I’m craving some cocoon time. We’re all being asked to take a breath, tune into the divine, and do a little self-exploration. On the threshold of Samhain, this energy reminds us that true transformation requires surrender, solitude, and trust.
- Opening to Adventure and Meaningful Connection Venus in Sagittarius is here to bring some joy to the journey! This is a reminder that transformation doesn’t always have to feel like heavy lifting; it’s also about discovery and excitement. This energy nudges us to connect with those ideas, places, and people that make us feel most alive and aligned. Got a passion project you’re working on? Claim it and tell me about it in the comments—I’d love to hear!
- Creative Sparks and Visionary Dreams With Mercury, Mars, and Neptune aligned, creativity and imagination are in the air. It’s an ideal time for journaling, creating music, or even dreamwork. A friend recently shared that her dreams have been intense lately, and I reminded her we’re in Samhain’s shadow, with the veil so thin that inspiration flows freely. A quick tip: hold off on big decisions right now. Let your visions take shape without needing to pin them down just yet.
- Strength, Healing, and the Path Forward Pluto in Capricorn and Chiron in Aries bring in resilience, reminding us to meet challenges head-on while staying true to ourselves. Healing around self-worth is highlighted right now, as is honoring our ambitions. This is a time to move forward boldly—not from ego, but from alignment with our truest self.
- Bringing the Inner World to the Outer Realm Uranus in Taurus encourages us to think about how our inner journeys impact the world around us. As we get clearer on what matters, we’re asked to connect those insights to the bigger picture—whether through sustainable choices, community involvement, or simply a deeper connection to the earth. This energy bridges the inner and outer realms beautifully.
Do any of these cosmic currents resonate with what you’re experiencing? Share your thoughts and reflections—I’m always amazed by how the celestial movements reflect our daily lives. “As above, so below,” indeed.
New moons are perfect for setting intentions, so consider taking a moment tonight to plant a seed for something you’re hoping to cultivate. In the past at Sagrada, I’d invite people to tuck their intentions into a basket nest, letting our dreams incubate until the full moon. At home, you could use a jar, a box, or even the soil of a plant (I love this one and have a small tree that’s been my ally for holding intentions over the years).
Once you plant your intention, resist the urge to revisit it. Let it be a “set it and forget it” kind of practice. By the time the full moon arrives, trust that what’s meant to bloom will do so in its own time.
I placed a powerful intention in the little box shown above once. Along with what I wrote, I also planted charms alongside my wish that embodied its energy. I admit, I didn’t follow the “forget it” rule perfectly. It took almost a year, but when I finally let go of controlling its outcome, it finally came to pass. Funny enough, I didn't quite appreciate it until I reopened the box much later. Want to share what you're incubating now? I'll cheer you on in the comments down below.
